A Weekend Wedding (and my first Wedding Shoot … sort of)
Posted on November 24, 2008
As my wife is a *little* bit older (wink wink, honey) than I am, she was one of the very last of her circle of friends to get married. I wasn’t the first, but quite a few of my friends are still living up the bachelor life.
So when Neal and Cynthia dun’ got hitched this last weekend, we were there to witness two of our closest friends who will now check the “married” box. Their wedding and reception were a great time (chocolate fountain, need I say more?) and Toni and I were both proud to be a part of their bridal party. Neal and I also had a blast eating breakfast, hanging out and just drinking coffee the morning of the big day … he was even calmer than I was!
If there is any downside to the honor of being asked to participate in the wedding of your friends, it’s that I didn’t have as much opportunity to take pictures. I’ve been trying to work my way into portraiture, engagement and eventually even wedding photography and there’s a delicate balance between photographing such an occasion and actually participating in it as a friend and celebrant! I decided to err on the side of participation, but here are a few of my fav shots I snagged:

Happy honeymoon and all the best and a lifetime of love to you both, Cynthia and Neal!

How to Bake a Cake?
Posted on November 15, 2008
Don’t ask us …
I love my wife. She is an immensely talented, fun, beautiful and loving person.
I’ve been known to make fun of her for her cooking, her baking and her propensity to burn herself when around anything hot, but she knows I say these things in good fun. (And truthfully she is usually a fine cook.)
She stayed up late one night this past week baking a homemade birthday cake for a co-worker because she wanted it to be a more “heartfelt” gift … As it turned out, Randalls bakery ended up making the cake, but not for lack of effort:

The funny thing is, even in spite of what you see here, the cake tasted great! Sadly, a birthday cake it was not meant to be.
P.S. Love ya babe!
