Emmy and Matt : Married!
April 29, 2010
Matt and Emmy are my “cousin in-laws” and a couple weeks back they threw one of the best weddings I have ever had the privilege of photographing. I’d been looking forward to it for months and while I always feel a little bit of pressure to do the best I can at any wedding, there is even a little more pressure when it comes to family we are close with. No one wants Christmas Eve to get awkward.
Fortunately, the whole day was a fantastic time and I’ve put off blogging it because there are just waaay too many pictures I really like! But, with my wife and I expecting a newborn baby any day now, it was time to just get ‘er done.
I knew our good family and friends would not disappoint and they threw one awesome party. And that’s really all I need to say, because each of these really is worth a thousand words.

I had an awesome time celebrating your wedding day with you both! Congrats again and all the best to you as you begin this new journey together!
Choose from these or over 1,400 other prints from Emmy and Matt’s wedding!

Jenna and Andy : Engaged!
April 21, 2010
Jenna and Andy hail from Cincinnati but were kind enough to meet me in Dublin for their shoot. These two like to laugh – a lot – and have a good time together.
I love that and when you add in their super relaxed, easygoing nature, as a photographer I can’t ask for any more
Despite a wicked bright midday sun, we got a few pictures that I feel manage to capture that fun essence that make Jenna and Andy so instantly likable! Here are a handful of my faves:

Jenna and Andy first met and began dating when they worked at the same Applebee’s together. A quick snap only seemed appropriate

Thanks for a great morning and I look forward to seeing you both again soon!

Luisa and Gordon : Engaged!
April 21, 2010
Luisa and Gordon are a cool, fun couple who made for an awesome Sunday afternoon photo shoot. I love it when I can meet and feel immediately, totally at ease with a person, and Luisa and Gordon are two such people! Luisa asked if she could bring their cocker spaniel, Bernard, along (to which I enthusiastically reply, of course!) and they also wanted to bring a few balloons along for some of their pics. Colorful, fun props? Sign me up!
We shot around their home in German Village (love, love, love this part of town) and came away with some real winners. Here are a few of my favorites:

After shooting a few in front of this tree, I told them to “do something unexpected.” Gordon, it looks like you are in for a long and happy marriage

Thanks for a great afternoon, Luisa and Gordon – I’ll be seeing you soon!

Jackie and AJ : Engaged!
April 19, 2010
Geez, I had a hard time blogging this shoot – too many favorites to choose from!
Jackie and AJ chose to shoot their engagement photos on Ohio State’s campus. I confess that despite being married to a Buckeye alum and having lived here for over a year, I’d barely set foot on the grounds before (exceptions, an OSU football game and Chantel and Brandon’s shoot, only last week!)
OSU was a beautiful setting for a beautiful couple, and a choice I was really happy about.
Bonus points are awarded for bringing their wirehaired dachshund, Sammy!
Jackie and AJ are easy to talk to, a lot of fun and they worked the shoot like a couple of rock stars! I really enjoyed our afternoon shoot together
And now, my favorite of the favorites

I’ll look forward to seeing you both in a few short months!

A Little Piece of 750
April 19, 2010
aka, two photographers in search of something fun to shoot.
I hail from Houston, Texas and while there are some things I miss about my former life there, I was happy to leave behind the absurdly hot weather and boring, concrete landscapes.
My friend Coty (of Henry Photography) and I decided to meet for some dinner at B-Dubs and then shoot around for a few around the Powell area. These were the result.

While these photos aren’t going to win any awards, I very much enjoy the process of just shooting without a specific result in mind (well, mostly, there was one particular picture I wanted to get.) Just grab the camera and hit the road, see what there is to see!
In a sense this was an evening of the unexpected – I mean, it’s Powell, Ohio, so I know I’m not going to see any polar bears marauding about. But when I’m walking along, I don’t really know sights what might jump out at me!
As a wedding photographer, I’m always working both to stretch my creative boundaries while doing what I am already pretty good at. It’s an at-times delicate balance and when it’s someone’s wedding at stake, I’m gonna err with the safety of my comfort zones.
Any way, I hope you enjoy and may you soon find yourself out with a friend, or a bunch of friends, or even just by yourself, shooting pictures of what strikes your artistic eye!
