Chantel and Brandon : Engaged!
April 19, 2010
I met Chantel and Brandon at the Varsity Club just off campus for their engagement shoot. They share a love of Buckeye sports and so wanted to get things started just outside of the Shoe. Sadly, Jim Tressel was not available to pose with them
Speaking of qualities they share, they like to laugh together
Often, and in a warm and likable way.
It didn’t take these two long to get that sense of humor rolling and enjoy an afternoon shoot … an unfortunate parking ticket aside. We owe you one, Buckeye cops
Here are a handful of my favorites from the day.
(As an aside, I seem to be digging the vertical portrait format lately. Not sure why …)

Chantel and Brandon attended rival high schools and Chantel even cheered “against” Brandon at games, though they wouldn’t begin dating for years. Small world!

Thanks so much for a great afternoon, Chantel and Brandon – I’m looking forward to your wedding just a few short months away!

A Little Easter Fun
April 5, 2010
Whether you celebrate Easter as a remembrance of Christ’s resurrection, a time to kick back with family and friends, or a time to eat too much food (or maybe all three, like I do, hey!
) … I hope you enjoyed this past holiday weekend!
We spent the morning and afternoon with great friends of ours, and I took a few pics of the kids as they set off in hunt for easter eggs … and candy. And coffee cake … oh wait, that was me.

Emily and Matt : The 20 Minute Engagement Shoot
April 2, 2010
Matt is my cousin-in-law and Emily is his much prettier, smarter and better half. (I can say this because we are family
– I keed, I keed, Matt!) I’m especially honored to be shooting their wedding in a week and I have been looking forward to it since last year, when we first sat down to talk about it!
We needed a picture for a matted, signature frame for their wedding (I highly recommend this as a cool alternative to a standard guest book) and so we met in Dayton a few weeks ago at Bergamo park to shoot a quick few with that purpose in mind. We’ll be getting together post-wedding day to do a “proper” engagement session
Here are a few of my quick favorites from the session!
Stay tuned for some amazing wedding photos in a few weeks!

Brooke and Matt : Newlyweds
April 1, 2010
I was first introduced to Brooke, oh, about three weeks before her wedding. She and her fiance Matt had planned to wed aboard a cruise ship out on the Caribbean, but the ship canceled on them only weeks before they were to set sail. What a major dose of suck!
– needless to say, they were left to make new arrangements in a very short time. When introduced to them via email by a friend of a friend, I was happy to be available on their date!
Plan Dos was a wedding at an intimate church in their hometown of Moxahala, followed by a reception at the hall in Zanesville. I was struck at how Brooke and Matt were so remarkably at ease from the moment I met them – with their day, their many guests (the church was packed to a standing room only) and even me, a stranger they had met only hours before. I enjoyed spending the day with them, their families and friends! And now, a few of my favorites from their day together!

An old school Coke fountain … why am I fighting the urge to install one in my kitchen?

Swwwiiing and a miss!

Congratulations on your wedding, Brooke and Matt – I wish you all the best and happiness in your new life together!

Nursah and Andrew : Engaged!
April 1, 2010
I was pretty sure within a few minutes of meeting Nursah and Andrew that I would really enjoy shooting pictures with them. When meeting with a couple for the first time, I like to ask them “what are some qualities of your relationship that you hope your pictures will reflect?” Nursah and Andrew answered to the effect that they really enjoy that they can have fun with each other anywhere, any time, doing just about anything together. And I immediately relate to that!
– that’s a quality of my relationship with my wife that I really love.
With “fun” in mind, we had a bit of ice cream and then set out into the Short North and Arena District for a few hours. And wowsers, what a shoot!
I love that most of these pictures are their “genuine” expression – things that they did themselves, without any real direction or leading from me. Out of the dozens of shots I love, love, love and could’ve posted, these are a few of my top favorites

Nursah e-mailed me a few days before our shoot and asked if Andrew could bring his guitar … of course! I love and always encourage people to incorporate things that they enjoy doing together! Andrew had some pretty serious skills too

Thanks for an awesome evening, Nursah and Andrew! Congratulations on your engagement and a lifetime of love to you both!
