Grace and Thomas, Engaged | Columbus Ohio Engagement Photography
February 5, 2012
I am so far behind on blogging.
Fortunately, Grace and Thomas’ engagement session from LAST SEPTEMBER has aged well. They are super sweet together and I look forward to their wedding this summer. Here are a few of my faves!

Thomas and Lindsey, Engaged! : Columbus North Market Engagement Photography
January 10, 2012
I feel like I use the word “fun” a lot. (I guess I need a thesaurus.) Thomas and Lindsey are a lot of fun.
They have fun together and made the entire shoot an amazing time. We met at their house to be sure Cosmo got his photo op as well and then headed to the North Market where they enjoy spending time shopping and browsing. Here are a few of my favorites:

Stephanie and Andre, Engaged | Wittenberg University Engagement Photography
November 2, 2011
Sometimes, I feel like I spend most of a shoot chasing a particular image. I might know what that image is ahead of time, or it might occur to me on location. It may be very specific, or it may be something less tangible; having to do with personality or the way two people interact with one another.
In the case of weddings and engagements, my goal is to come back with images that really reflect the love shared by two people who have found their partner in life. Unless we model for a living, it’s difficult for most of us to “be our best selves” in front of a camera. I say “our best selves” because, after all, these shoots are about capturing the best of our love. Dinner together after a long day at work may be one of countless moments in which a lifelong love is defined, but it’s usually not an interesting setting for a picture.
Which brings us to Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio one cold, overcast morning in October. The first image below, to the right, is precisely one that I felt like I was chasing. It reflects something very special about their relationship. And I’m happy for their happiness.
The rest, I really like too.

I can’t wait for your wedding – see y’all soon!

Sharlene and Zack, Engaged | at THE Ohio State University ;)
October 24, 2011
I met Sharlene and Zack at Starbucks … which is a great way for me to start any shoot. We talked for a few about their upcoming wedding, their engagement (while touring Greece!) and their vision for their pictures. While I first got to know Sharlene as a new member of the family (she is the daughter of my wife’s cousin), I hadn’t met Zack or gotten to know their relationship outside of a few Facebook posts. In the following couple of hours, I came to realize very quickly that they are very sweet, laid back and fun together. I assume they are these things individually as well, but I know for a fact that they are these things while together. You want proof? So glad you asked.
Here are a few of my favorites from our engagement session at THE Ohio State University.

Congratulations on your engagement and I can’t wait for your wedding, which will be here before you know it! See you soon!

Tanya and Jeff, Engaged | Dayton OH Engagement Photography
July 29, 2011
Jeff is my cousin-in-law … so does that make Tanya my cousin in-law in-law? Hmm …
Oh yes, their pictures. One of the many reasons I encourage any newly engaged couple to take engagement pictures with me (or any photographer they might elect to work with) is that it doubles as getting-to-know-each-other time. Truly, the better I know you, the better I feel I am able to photograph you; the ways you and your fiance interact with each other, the nuances of your individual character and your relationship.
I already knew Jeff from paintballing and several years of family get togethers and I had just started to get to know Tanya through those same family events. I was very happy for them both when I found out they were engaged but even in that moment, yes, there was a part of me that hoped that they might be interested in working with me.
They are fun people and besides that they look great together! So imagine how it made my day when I found out they were very interested in working with me!
Here are a few of my favorites from our recent engagement session in Dayton. I cannot WAIT for their wedding day!

Thanks so much for a great morning together, Tanya and Jeff! (and for the coffee!) I’ll be seeing you soon!
Check out our full session together and order a print or two (or 200, who am I to limit you?)
